Shrove Tuesday has just passed, and although the official day has gone, we’re still thinking about pancakes at breakfast club.
There’s something about making pancakes in the morning that feels like a tiny celebration in the middle of a school week.
For anyone who wants to recreate a simple, no-fuss version at home, here’s our go-to:
Future Stars Breakfast Pancakes
You’ll need:
- 100g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 300ml milk
- A knob of melted butter (plus extra for the pan)
- A small pinch of salt
Method:
- Whisk the flour and salt together.
- Make a well in the middle and crack in the eggs.
- Slowly add the milk, whisking as you go, until smooth.
- Stir in the melted butter.
- Heat a lightly buttered pan and pour in a small ladle of mixture.
- Cook until golden underneath, flip, and repeat.
Serve however your household debates demand – lemon and sugar, fruit and yoghurt, chocolate spread, or the controversial savoury option.
We love moments like this at breakfast club. Not because it’s about pancakes, but because it’s about starting the day calmly, chatting around a table, and doing something a little bit different : )
